Care Guide
Our waist beads are designed to be worn continuously — including in water, during exercise, and through daily life. With the right care, they will last a long time.
Wearing your beads
Tie-on waist beads are meant to be worn all day, every day. Once tied and trimmed, they sit comfortably around your waist or hips without needing to be removed. You do not need to take them off to shower, swim, or sleep.
Water and moisture
Our beads are water-safe. You can wear them in the shower, bath, pool, or sea. After prolonged exposure to water, simply pat the string dry to prevent any moisture sitting against the skin.
- Avoid soaking in heavily chlorinated water for extended periods, as this can weaken the string over time
- Remove excess water by gently patting the strand after swimming
Cleaning
To clean your beads:
- Leave them on your body
- Gently wipe the beads with a damp cloth or let soap and water run over them in the shower
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry
Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the bead finish or weaken the string.
Skincare and oils
Body lotions, oils, and perfumes are generally fine to use alongside your beads. Apply products to your skin and allow them to absorb before contact with the strand where possible. Heavy or oil-based products used daily may affect the string over time.
Physical activity
Your beads can be worn during exercise. Sweat is not harmful to the beads or string. After a workout, rinse as normal in the shower.
When to replace
With regular wear, the string may weaken over time. Signs that it may be time to retie or replace your strand include:
- Visible fraying or thinning of the string
- The knot beginning to loosen
- Discolouration of the string that cannot be cleaned
If you notice any of these, it is best to remove the strand carefully before it breaks.
