What are waist beads?

Waist beads are strands of beads worn around the waist or hips. They have been worn across West and Central Africa for centuries as symbols of femininity, body awareness and adornment.

How do I wear waist beads?

Tie the strand around your waist at the position you want to wear them. Trim any excess string and secure with a knot. They are designed to be worn continuously, including in water.

Are they adjustable?

Our beads are tie-on. You tie them to fit your body and trim the excess. They are not adjustable once tied, but can be removed and retied if needed before trimming.

Sizing

What length are your waist beads?

All our strands are 50 inches, which is suitable for most waist and hip sizes. For detailed sizing guidance, visit our Fit Guide.

How do I know if they will fit?

Measure your waist or hips at the point where you plan to wear the beads. If your measurement is under 50 inches, our strands will fit.
