How to Measure for Waist Beads
Before ordering waist beads, it's worth taking one quick measurement. This tells you whether a strand will fit and helps you decide where on your body you want to wear it.
Our strands are 50 inches long. For a comfortable fit, your measurement at your chosen position should be 48 inches or under — this allows at least 1–2 inches of ease for tying and comfortable wear.
What you need
- A soft measuring tape (the kind used for sewing or tailoring)
- A mirror, or someone to help
Do not use a rigid tape measure — it cannot follow the curve of your body accurately.
How to measure
- Stand naturally — do not hold your breath or pull in your stomach. You want your resting measurement.
- Wrap the tape around your body at the position where you plan to wear the beads. Common positions are above the navel, at the navel, or at the hip bones.
- Keep the tape level and snug — it should lie flat against your skin without digging in.
- Note the measurement in inches. If your tape only shows centimetres, divide by 2.54 to convert.
- If your measurement is 48 inches or under, our strands will fit comfortably at that position.
Where to measure
Measure at the position where you actually want to wear the beads, not just your smallest point. Different positions give different measurements:
- High waist (above the navel) — typically the narrowest point
- Natural waist (at or just below the navel) — a common everyday position
- Low waist / hip (at the hip bones) — usually the widest point
If you want to wear beads at more than one position, measure each one separately.
What if I'm close to 48 inches?
Our strands are 50 inches long, so you need at least 1–2 inches of ease beyond your body measurement to tie a secure knot and wear the beads comfortably. If your measurement is between 48 and 50 inches, the strand may technically reach but will have very little room for tying — and the fit may feel too snug.
For the most comfortable result, we recommend your measurement is no more than 48 inches at the position you want to wear them.

Do I need to remeasure each time I order?
Only if your body has changed or you want to wear the beads at a different position. Otherwise, your original measurement is a reliable reference.
